What this covers

Most house calls are one of three things: you are standing outside your own door, you have keys you do not trust, or a lock has quit working. We handle all three. Rekeying is the everyday job — we change the pins inside your existing hardware so old keys stop working, which is faster and cheaper than replacing a door full of locks and leaves you with matched keys for every entry.

When hardware genuinely needs replacing we install deadbolts and knob locks that actually fit the door and the strike, including proper strike reinforcement, which is where most break-ins get decided. We also install and set up keypad deadbolts and smart locks, and we will tell you plainly which ones hold up and which ones we get called back to.

Residential services

  • Rekeying — all residential lock types
  • Deadbolt and knob lock replacement

What to expect

No surprises when we pull up.

We confirm you live therePhoto ID with the address, a lease, or closing paperwork. For a new purchase, the closing documents are enough.
We look at the door firstHalf of the "broken lock" calls we take are a sagging door or a misaligned strike, not a bad lock. That is a cheaper fix and we will say so.
We rekey or repair on siteA standard house rekey of four to six cylinders runs about 30 to 45 minutes.
You leave with matched keysOne key for every exterior door unless you want it otherwise, and the old keys are dead.

What it costs

Rekeying is priced per cylinder with a service call, so a whole-house job costs less per lock than a single one. What moves the number:

How many cylindersFront, back, garage entry, storm door, deadbolt — count them before you call and we can quote it on the phone.
Rekey or replaceRekeying existing hardware is the least expensive route. New hardware is a materials cost on top of labor.
Hardware gradeBuilder-grade knobs, mid-grade residential deadbolts, and commercial-grade hardware for a rental all price differently.
Door conditionA door that needs a strike moved or a mortise cleaned up takes longer than a straight cylinder swap.

Ranges are quoted on the phone before we come out. Cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express.

Hardware we service and stock

We work on what is already on your door, whatever brand it is.

Common residential

Kwikset · Schlage · Defiant · Baldwin · Emtek · Weiser · Master Lock

Commercial-grade for homes and rentals

Schlage B-series · Best · Falcon · Arrow — worth it on a rental or a door that gets hard use

Keypad and smart

Keypad deadbolts and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth smart locks installed and set up. We will also convert one back to a plain keyed deadbolt if it has been more trouble than help.

Residential questions

Should I rekey or replace my locks?

Rekey, in most cases. If the hardware is sound, changing the pins gives you the same security as new locks for less money.

We just closed on a house. What do we need?

A whole-house rekey so every exterior door takes one new key. Builders, agents, and past contractors all had keys.

Can you get me in without damaging the door?

Yes, in most cases. Non-destructive entry is the normal outcome.

Do you install smart locks?

Yes, and we set them up and show you how they behave when the batteries die.

Can all my doors use one key?

Yes, as long as the cylinders are compatible. That is standard practice for us.
